Today you’ll learn a strategy to build an Aligned Audience – who feel like, “Finally, someone gets me!” when you talk about your offers.

Maureen Oliver of Color Me Positive has loved creating graphics since the early days of the internet. Her mission is simple: to provide done-for-you coloring book and journal assets that help fellow creatives produce products quickly, affordably, and with confidence.

ALIGNED AUDIENCE

What Works for Maureen

Instead of trying to appeal to everyone, Maureen focuses her messaging by answering three simple questions:

  • Who do I love serving (my vibe)?
  • What urgent, emotional problem do they want solved?
  • And how do I uniquely help them (my flavor)?

This creates a crystal-clear focus for all her marketing.

🏆The Big Wins

  • Crystal-Clear Audience Focus: She knows exactly who her products are for (and who they’re not for), which eliminates guesswork.
  • Magnetic Messaging: Her words instantly click with the right people, making them feel seen and understood.
  • High-Confidence Marketing: She can confidently drop her message in social groups or on her website, knowing it will attract the right people who lean in and say, “That’s me!”

💡The Idea Behind It

  • Clarity Attracts: A specific, focused message acts like a magnet for your ideal customers while gently repelling those who aren’t a good fit.
  • Authenticity Sells: By defining your unique “flavor,” you stand out from the competition and build a brand based on your authentic style, which people are drawn to.
  • Emotional Connection: It shifts the focus from product features to solving an urgent, emotional problem, which is what truly drives purchasing decisions.

👉Here’s How To Do It

  • List your top 3 favorite customers (real or imagined). Write down what they value, what frustrates them, and the transformation they want.
  • Find the common thread. This becomes your “aligned audience”—the people who light you up and need what you offer.
  • Craft one clear, repeatable message based on that audience. (e.g., “I help coloring book self-publishers save time with done-for-you PLR.”)
  • Test it in small spaces. Drop your message in Facebook groups, on your About page, or in social captions and notice who leans in.

🛠️ Tips & Tools

  • Use ChatGPT to accelerate this process.
  • Maureen suggests a prompt like: “I create [your product] for [your customer type], who would my aligned audience be?” Just substitute your details to get a clear audience profile.

📌In Her Own Words

“Instead of vague ‘maybe it’s for me’ vibes, your audience thinks: ‘That’s exactly what I need — and finally, someone gets me!'”
